Training for finding fallen game in Baden-Württemberg

On February 19th and 20th, 30 dog handlers and their dogs met at the TCRH Training Center Rescue and Help in Mosbach for the first sighting of the cadaver test teams.

Hunting dog handlers and rescue dog handlers work in close cooperation

The participants came from both rescue dog handlers and hunters, which enabled an intensive exchange of specialist information and personal experiences. It was also interesting to compare the different training and management methods of the dogs and the temperament and passion of the different dog breeds.

Head of the “Smell Differentiation” department leads training

Under the expert guidance of the experienced BRH trainer Kai-Uwe Gries, the teams were tested by him and his co-instructors to determine their suitability for training as a cadaver test team.

Search teams introduce themselves at various stations

In addition to the dog's physical condition and motivation, the dog handler's off-road ability and the bond between humans and dogs were assessed at various stations. In a final discussion with those responsible for training and the department heads of the BRH national deployment department, the requirements and motivations of the dog handlers were discussed. In addition to physical condition, the availability of time for training and the willingness to carry out searches lasting several days are also important prerequisites for the future cadaver testing teams.

Excellent suitability for further training steps

At the end of the event, the vast majority of teams have fulfilled the tested requirements, so the training moves on to the next round. In the first training round, 18 teams will be trained as cadaver testing teams over three weekends. The remaining teams will follow in the next few months, as will the screening of other teams.

A weekend with very committed dog handlers

The TCRH ASP team would like to thank everyone involved for the great weekend and their great commitment and looks forward to continued collaboration with people and dogs!
