Possible uses (selection)

Manhole rescue

Rescuing and recovering an injured person from an approx. 15 meter high shaft. Rescue techniques are used here to abseil or pull people or rescue dogs up through a shaft (e.g. elevator shaft).

Abseiling wall with window

The 15,0 x 6,0 meter high climbing wall is used for basic training in abseiling, comparable to house walls. Here it is possible to train several people in controlled abseiling. Rescue dog handlers who are qualified for height rescue learn and train here how to abseil/lower the dog with and without a dog handler. Rescue workers (e.g. mountain rescue), industrial climbers and police height intervention teams can also train patient-friendly but also fast abseiling.
Not only abseiling down to the ground, but also the challenging "swinging" into rooms through a window can be improved here and serves as an important training element not only for special police units.

Anchor points 9 meters and 17,5 meters

Thanks to the two training platforms of different heights, the STA height and depth rescue is able to cover all performance ranges, from beginners to advanced users to instructors. The steel construction at a height of 17,5 meters makes it possible to safely use a wide variety of anchor points for standard abseiling training and to use common technical rescue aids in a targeted manner. Even new developments can be established in a variety of ways, as long as they comply with general standards.

This enables cross-interface training of a wide range of emergency services.

Helicopter skid

An original replica of a helicopter skid is installed at the STA Höhen- und Tiefenrettung, which gives police forces in particular the opportunity to train the basics of abseiling and sliding off helicopters.

Unconventional climbing

Due to the height and structure of the facility, it is also possible to train on zip lines for the braked, controlled lowering of people who have had an accident, as well as to learn various climbing and belaying techniques that do not occur in everyday sport and industrial climbing. Reaching higher securing points not only serves to improve climbing skills, but also improves the trust between the person climbing and the person belaying, as well as raising the awareness of the service dog teams, especially the dogs, to the height and the various techniques.

Research, development and testing

The TCRH, the BRH, as well as their external specialist consultants and organizers connect a large number of authorities, organizations and companies internationally that can implement joint projects in the STA height and depth rescue.

Due to the large number of anchor points available, it is possible to practice almost any rescue technique and to try out new techniques at any time.

Furthermore, “climbing up” to higher points can be included in training and further education thanks to the overhang of the container and the helicopter skid. This also enables the integration of research and testing work at the STA height and depth rescue.
